Integrated Playback
Play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, and loop audio—all without leaving the transcription window. Playback and typing happen in the same application at the same time.
WinScribe puts audio playback and text entry in one window. No switching between apps, no losing your place. Play, pause, rewind, and type—all without lifting your hands from the keyboard.
WinScribe is modeled on classic audio tape transcription machines. Everything you need to control playback while you type is right in the application window—no submenus, no hidden features.
Play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, and loop audio—all without leaving the transcription window. Playback and typing happen in the same application at the same time.
Every control has a keyboard shortcut. Your hands never have to leave the keyboard while transcribing. Esc plays and pauses. F1 jumps back. F2 jumps forward. F3 loops. Ctrl+H shows all shortcuts.
Load any MP3 audio file or MP4 video file. When a video file is loaded, WinScribe plays its audio track for transcription. Jump to any position by minute. Adjust playback speed to match your typing pace.
Transcription text is saved as an industry-standard RTF document. Open it in Microsoft Word, WordPad, or any text editor. RTF files are saved alongside the source audio for easy access.
WinScribe requires no administrator access, no Windows Registry access, no system files, and no network resources. It runs entirely locally—appropriate for secure corporate environments.
WinScribe checks for new versions at startup and offers to install updates. You choose when to update—immediately, later, or not at all. Source code available to enterprise IT teams on request.
Click File → Open, or press any transport button (Esc, F1, F2, F3). The file dialog opens—select your MP3 or MP4 file. The text editor appears with "Click here to transcribe."
Press Esc to start playback. Click inside the text editor and begin typing. Press Esc again to pause. Use F1 to jump back, F2 to jump forward, F3 to loop a section. Adjust speed with the Speed control.
Press Ctrl+S or click File → Save at any time. WinScribe saves your transcript as an RTF file in the same location as your audio file, with a matching filename for easy access.
Your RTF file opens in Microsoft Word, WordPad, Google Docs, or any text editor. Copy, paste, edit, and format as needed. The transcript is yours in a standard, portable format.
WinScribe works with MP3 audio and MP4 video files. No internet connection required. No account needed. No data leaves your machine.
